Moises AI App to Create Your Own Backing Tracks

Here’s another app I use to try to become a better guitar player. Moises can be used on your computer, tablet, or phone.

When using licensed music you need to pay for the songs. While I have an iTunes subscription that allows me to stream anything these songs will not work without paying for them. For me, it is worth it.

The interface is easy to use. Once you are happy with the results you can export the track to a new MP3 or MP4 file. You can jam to this however you see fit. Want to go the extra mile? Import the track into GarageBand or a similar DAW and record yourself playing along to the track.

If you play the song(s) from within the Moises app you can turn the guitar parts or anything else off and on as you play.

There is a great difference between playing on top of a complete song vs playing to a song less the guitar parts. If you want to sing you can remove that too.

Here’s a sample of me playing Refugee by Tom Pretty and the Heartbreakers using my Nux Mighty Plug Pro headphone amp. I didn’t finish the song. If you make it to the 2:12 mark you can just hear the song without the guitar parts.

I have been working on my mobile recording setup. I spend LOTS of time in hotel rooms. I try to make some of that time productive by playing guitar. My current setup includes the following:

• My Ciari Ascender Guitar
• Nux Mighty Plug Pro Headphone Amp
• iPad Pro 12.9”
• Bose Headset plugged into the Nux Mighty Plug (Use whatever you like)
• Dual USB-C cable to connect the Nux Mighty Plug to my iPad
• GarageBand

All of this fits inside the gig bag for my Ciari Ascender with the exception of my iPad. However, if you use the backpack provided with the Ciari everything and more could fit in that.

**Quick 2025 Update: **(May 2025)

I still love this app! It is so great to be able to mute/delete guitar tracks of favorite songs I like to jam to. If you create something on you computer it easily syncs to your mobile device in a matter of seconds.

Using the key change feature. This song is in Ab. Don’t feel like retuning your guitar you can quickly change the key!

Moises can quickly retrieve song lyrics too!
